Export Production
Loewe Opta Export Production
What did Loewe Opta offer for Export?
All Pictures can be enlarged (zoomed).
It is a very sad fact that by now very little information is available about Loewe's export program. Once in a while an old description or export catalogue will surface. Just recently the Loewe archive group of Kronach made such a catalogue available to me, but naturally this will have to be returned to them.
Here you will see some models from the beginning and the mid-fifties. Some of them were even designed for battery power.
In case that some of you, dear visitors, have some original data (pictures, manuals, etc.) I would be grateful to receive copies from you. It is only with your help that we can retrace what was available then. According to my research all Loewe Opta export model had been built in Düsseldorf at Opta Spezial. Unfortunately, after the closing of that plant all reference material had been destroyed. I found out about this a few years ago from a co-worker who had a management position. Naturally, with the closing of this factory location much of the knowledge of the people who had worked there was also lost. Life went on ...
Here now some pictures of the year 1953. They are sets that were destined for the European and Overseas market.

This group was for the English speaking clientele.
The following pictures show models for French speaking users.
Of special interest should be the fact that there are sets designed with battery powers supply that were not available in Germany.

Please not that the technology in all sets differs from the comparable German models.
1) Kobold 729W compares to Kobold 1720W, but the wave bands are different.
2) Kobold 719 is battery power but was not available in Germany.
3) Tempo 718 is equal in appearance to the German Tempo 710W, but the technical design is as Kobold.
4) Rheinnixe 1255W looks like the German Rheinnixe 1055W.

Again, dear visitor, should you be in possession of any export documentation such as brochures, it would be very kind of you if you could make them available to the Radiomuseum Bocket. That could be either as an original or a good colour copy.
For your consideration, many thanks.
