DuMont Club 20 / RA-106

1948 Dumont "Club 20", 20” console TV with FM radio. This model was made with clubs and bars in mind where many people could watch from a distance and still see the picture, most TV's at this time had only a 7", 10" or 12" picture tube. It has a spiral-pattern 13 channel tuner still using channel 1 at the time and has the full FM band between channel 6 and 7. The 20" tube was the largest available at the time and is now extremely hard to find. Dumont only offered it in their best and most expensive late 1940's sets, the RA-101 Westminster at $2,495, the RA 106 Club 20 at $995 and the RA-106 Manchu. I recently sold a Westminster for $7,500 and shipped it to Norway. I am asking less than 1/2 that price for this rarer 20" model, I know of only 3 of these worldwide.

Cosmetics of the wood cabinet are very good overall with just a few scratches/marks/flaws. The control panel door key and clear channel dial cover are missing and it does not have the optional wooden stand. Be sure to see all of the many photos below.

Chassis/electronics appear to be all-original and complete with the exception of the missing AC cord and interlock assembly. The tuner moves freely and the dial is in excellent condition. Comes as shown with all tubes, only the 20BP4 picture tube was tested. Sencore CR70 results: H-K Shorts - Good, G1 Shorts - Good, Cutoff - Low, Emissions - Good, Life Test - Good, drops only 1/4". Because of eBay/PayPal "Not as Described" return rules that allow buyers to damage items and return them at sellers expense the picture tube is being sold the same as the other tubes and the entire TV, as pictured, as-is, display only, not working, for parts and repair, no returns. Pick-up buyer is welcome to inspect anything and I will be happy to test the picture tube again so they can see first hand the results.

I buy, sell and collect vintage TV’s, I do no electronic restorations/repairs. Once again, I am selling this TV the tubes and the picture tube as pictured, as-is, display only, not working, for parts and repair, no returns. For safety reasons an AC cord is not included. This 70 year old TV must be looked over, safety checked and repaired/restored by a qualified technician before use.

TV measures 38” tall, 25 1/2” wide, 32” deep and weighs approximately 225 lbs. It will measure approximately 42” tall, 30” wide, 36” deep and weigh 250 lb. boxed, add weight for pallet if shipped by truck or air freight. Good, strong packing supplies including 2” thick hard Styrofoam to line the box will cost $50. It is too large for FedEx Ground, USPS and UPS Ground, must be picked-up or shipped by truck or air freight.
